I'm thinking of purchasing the amazon kindle because I do alot of traveling for my job and it would be helpful for me for work and in my free time. It seems like a cool device but I'm worried that it won't be as easy to use as Amazon claims it to be. Can someone who has it let me know if it's worth it for me to invest in this gadget?

A friend of mine has it and its AWESOME!...It's great because you carry around more than one book at a time in this small little device. She used it a lot for reading at the beach.
Im def putting one on my registry this year.

I am also thinking about getting one but I am afraid that there will be too much glare on the kindle screen in sunlight. I want to be able to read indoors as well as outdoors. If the kindle screen is not glare resistant, it is not worth getting for me.

Is Kindle truly catching on? I haven't seen it advertised on T.V. and none of my friends have mentioned it.
It sounds like something handy to have!

I love holding an actual book since I'm a big book collector but I just love the kindle...so convenient!

I have a Kindle that someone bought for me last Christmas. What can I say, it is probably one of the best gifts anyone has ever gotten me. It is light, comfortable, can go anywhere. People always tell me that they love holding a book, but they have never held a Kindle. You can hold it and hold something to eat with the other hand, since you can change pages with the hand that holds it. I am never without something fabulous to read, and since it is Amazon based, it knows all of my reading habits and constantly recommends books that i would like.
If I was to say only one thing bad about it, it does not have a back light. I find it incredible that they would build a $300 book that does not have its own light. I wrote to Amazon about it because I just couldnt believe it and thought that it was my mistake, but no. So if you like to read in bed, like I do, you still need to keep the light on or use a book light.

It is an excellent device. It has clear cut advantage over the Sony reader. One thing I don't like about is that the design is not very elegant and lacks a true browser.

I have a friend who's been singing Kindle's praises for the last year or so, but I've been fairly resistant to switching over because I LOVE books.
Then I dropped Breaking Dawn into the bathtub a few months back and had to put my reading frenzy on hold until the sudsy water was dry. After that, I'm thinking a reader will have a better chance of surviving the bath than a 750+ page book.
Does anyone know if it can withstand a quick dip in the tub...just in case?

It's really a brilliant device. I love the actual feel of a book but when you're traveling you can't carry a bunch with you. The Kindle is perfect for this and it's definitely easy to use!
