I haven't taken any yoga classes before but am thinking of taking prenatal classes. Can anyone tell the benifits of these yoga classes? Are they supposed to help my body during labor or is it simply to keep the body healthy during pregnancy?

Hi
Well I saw something on TV about baby yoga classes and they are nice for keeping you healthy, but good for your body before and after the birth. It keeps you in shape so after the baby comes it will be easier for you to lose all those extra pounds gained from pregnancy. Excersice is good for you just as much as it is for your baby's health too. Somehow they benefit like with circulation and breathing. I put this on my registry and hope somone gets it for me for my baby shower:

Tried yoga a few weeks ago. BORING!! I felt good afterwards, but it was so slow. I guess you just have to find your thing. A lot of people love yoga, but it was not for me.

Ha! It is kind of boring! but relaxing at the same time. I love the idea of prenatal & postnatal yoga. I think I will put that on MyRegistry as well. This is my second time around and I'm not as young!!! (HA! ) So I will definitely get into this. Thanks!

I heard that you shouldn't start a new exercise routine while pregnant, but should continue any routine that you had established before pregnancy.
Since just about anything the mother does to increase blood flow will help the growing baby inside her, why not just take walks and save paying for yoga classes for later?

I agree that walking would probably be just as beneficial, and it's FREE! But, if you have the extra cash, why not go for it?

The nice thing about yoga is that after you have the baby, you can get yoga videos that are for mommy and the baby, so you are actually interacting with your baby while doing the yoga.
If you are interested in it, why not give it a try. It is suppose to help with weight loss too, so after baby, it may be beneficial.
