Italian Icee's and Jolly Ranchers (not too many) worked for me with my first. I do not know what it does but it's like magic! And TUMS!! Thank God for them!

I had really bad heartburn and I made a habit of staying away from - spicy foods, coffee, tea, pop, acidic juices and heart-breakingly so- chocolate. I also elevated the head of my bed and made sure never to lay down right after eating. These are all things my Doctor told me to do and they helped tremendously.

I always get heartburn near the end, so I start eating smaller meals, or I break one meal up and eat it over several hours.

Oh my gosh! I practically lived on TUMS with my first three and it did not seem to matter what I ate, how much I age, or how little I ate. With my fourth child, I had very little heartburn and it was a nice change.

Tums was the major food in my diet when I was pregnant. Everything gave me heartburn, including water! I was so miserable, I even tried different flavors but by the end they all made me feel ill. Fortunately, that was the only problem with my pregnancy and went away immediately after birth.
If you are having severe heartburn problems try resting with pillows to prop you up, or even taking naps in a chair. That usually help temporarily with my heartburn.

I was blessed not to have heartburn. My sister did though and lived on tums too.

I had a small case of heartburn with my first baby. I welcomed the feeling, though, because people said that it meant the baby would a have a lot of hair. And, he did!

I also have horrible heartburn no matter what I eat. I was living on Tums but just read the other day that it wasn't good to eat them too much because of the high mineral content. Has anybody else heard this?

Eat about six smaller meals instead of three large ones and stay away from acidic foods. Try eating bananas and chewing on gum between meals, too. Bananas reduce stomach acid as does saliva. Chewing gum encourages you to produce more saliva and swallowing it will help reduce stomach acid.
